Emma is debating whether to use a straightedge and compass or a computer drawing program to complete a construction of a square inscribed in a circle. Which method do you think would take the longest to complete the construction and why?

Answer:

Explanation:

Using technology takes longer. Using a straightedge and a compass just requires you to find the circles bisector which takes no time at all. Using technology requires you to have a circle with a center point and a radius as AB, then you draw connecting lines, make intersections, draw point E on the segment DB, follow the entire perpendicular line construction that requires two additional circles and then in the end you’ll have BHDI as a square.

Using a straightedge and compass will take the longest because Emma will have to work out the measurements herself and draw each inscribed triangle. Using a computer programme, the computer will do it for her and the results will definitely be accurate.
