We use the quadratic formula

x =
\frac{-b +or- \sqrt{b^(2)-4ac } }{2a}

3x² + 12x + 6 = 0
║ ║ ║
a=3 b=12 c=6

Plug it in:

\frac{-12 +or- \sqrt{12 ^(2) -4(3)(6)} }{2(3)}

(-12+or- √(144-72) )/(6)

(-12+or- √(72) )/(6)

Solutions:
sol.1=
(-12+ √(72) )/(6)
= -0.585786
-0.6

sol.2 =
(-12- √(72) )/(6)
= -3.41421
-3.4
