Following are the major environmental conditions that might cause a damage to the alveolar sacs:

1. Air pollution
2. Dust storms

4. Smoke

The aforementioned conditions can cause temporary or permanent damage to alveolar sacs. Damages may include: building up fluid in the sacs and accumulation of dust particles in the sacs. The consequences of that may include coughing or preventation of oxygen (air supply) into the lungs.
