diploid cell. In meiosis I, the cell undergoes cell division process that is more likely has the similar procedures that mitosis undergoes. The cell produced is called the diploid cell which has the complete 48 strands of chromosomes within it. However, after the mitosis II takes place, the cell produced is called a haploid cell which has only 24 chromosomes instead of 48.
