When you subtract 22 from a number and the result is doubled, the answer is 6 more than the original number. What is the number?

You have to write two equation:
'substract 22 from a number'

X-22=Y
and:
'the result is doubled, the answer is 6 more than the original number'

2*Y=X+6

then you change 'Y' in 2nd equation for left side of 1st equation:

2*(X-22)=X+6
count it and you get:

2X-44=X+6
This means that X=50
The original number is 50.
