I'm a little confused with the question but if u want to find the value for y so u can get -40 is going to be -35
-5x+y=-40
-5(1)+y(-35)=-40
-5-35=-40

(5, y). Implies that x = 5

-5x + y = -40

-5*5 + y = -40

-25 + y = -40

y = -40 + 25

y = 25 - 40

y = -15.

Value of y = -15.
