when fresh water flows into salt water it is no longer fresh therefore it can cause all type of organisms that live in that pond to die such as fresh water fish and what ever other organism lives i that body of water

Since salt water is more dense than fresh water, it's possible for fresh water to float on salt water before it mixes, But when it does this the boundary is called a ''halocline''.
