In an authoritarian government democracy is generally not followed, so all the principles of democracy are not followed. This includes, among others:

-equality under law: in an authoritarian State, some people have more rights than others
-democratic elections: often, there are no elections
-popular sovereignty: the power of the state is not in the hands of all the people.
