The correct answer is this one: "B) The graphs open downward. " Negative quadratic functions will give you a downward graph.

The equations
y = -1/2x^2 + 2
y = -2x^2 + 3
y = -3/4x^2
y = -4/5x^2 - 5

are all negative. So they are facing downward.
