There were 4 times as many chairs as tables in the hall. After 95 chairs were removed from the hall, there were 2/3 as many tables as chairs in left. What was the total number of chairs in the hall at first?

2/3 as many tables as chairs means 3/2 as many chairs as tables. So you can make the equation 4t-95=(3/2)t. Solving for t, the amount of tables, gets you 38 and there were originally 4 times that amount of chairs in the hall so there must have been 152 chairs at first.
