Sunspots are transient appearances on the Sun's photo sphere that resemble as spots deeper than the neighboring areas. They are areas of diminished surface heat generated by concentrations of magnetic field flux that restrain convection. Sunspots ordinarily develop in pairs of opposite magnetic polarity. This influences the climate here on Earth, and also radio response. Without sunspots, the Earth would probably be cooler. When sunspots come it creates in increment of ultraviolet rays that emanate from the external ring of the sunspots approaching Earth.

This expansion in UV rays influences the chemistry of the outer environment and the energy balance of Earth. The notion that sunspots influence Earth's environment is still largely argued, but it is considered that the development of sunspots on the surface of the sun can diminish the amount of heat and light distributed to Earth.
