Simplify Both sides of equation, so -3x + 6 = 9

Subtract 6 from both sides, so -3x = 3

Divide both sides by -3, so X = 1

-3(x-2) = 9

We need to solve the equation to find the value of x.

-3(x-2) = 9

Perform distributive property of multiplication:

-3(x) -3(-2) = 9
-3x + 6 = 9

Deduct six from both sides:

-3x + 6 - 6 = 9 - 6
-3x = 3

Divide -3 from both sides

-3x / -3 = 3/-3
x = -1

-1 is the value of x.

To check: x = -1
-3(x-2) = 9
-3(-1-2) = 9
-3(-3) = 9
9 = 9
