After the end of the Civil War in the United States in 1865, four long years had passed and there were many casualties in both sides. President Abraham Lincoln then issued and act and Proclamation of Reconstruction and Amnesty in 1963. He knew that the South after being defeated never really legally seceded. So, as an act of forgiveness and compassion to the loosing South or Confederated Army, he declared a reconstruction plan. His main goal by doing this was to finally unite the entire United States of America as a single country.

The Reconstruction Plan was also known as a conciliatory plan which of course included a reunification of all the States of the Union as previously said. This was the main purpose of the plan. With this post-war reconstruction, President Lincoln could get the economy moving forward which was an excellent idea, to help everyone who participated in the conflict. At the same time, It was a way to give the new born nation the best chance to become the great country they are now.

The main goal of President Lincoln’s Reconstruction plan was to "reconstruct" the Southern states that had seceded from the Union in terms of their economy and social structure.
