The right side of the equation (the tank being filled) had no water to start, and is taking all the water that leaks out of the original tank, so 6x. Hence, 340-6x=6x

What the question is asking is at what time will the container and thetank have the same amount if water. I would divide 340 by two then calculate how much of the answer goes into six. And then you should have your answer
