People aged 18 and under should have a nightly curfew at 10 p.m. because they need more sleep than adults and the majority of violent crimes against youth occur after 10 p.m. What do you expect to read in an essay with this thesis statement?

research proving why most people need more sleep
evidence that a majority of violent crimes are committed by youth
a section on sleep and a section on violent crimes
a proposal for schools to start class later in the day

the third option- a section in sleep and a section on violent crimes.

I'm not sure if you have to actually write this but you could easily expand in the sleep section by saying how our bodies don't function properly without enough sleep and then even bring the topic of school starting later so more sleep is had etc.

a section on sleep and a section on violent crimes

A thesis statement is the main idea of the entire essay. In an argument essay, it should make a claim and then outline the main reasons to support the claim. In this thesis statement we know the author will be writing to argue that minors should have a nightly curfew. The author then outlines his reasons when it talks about the need for sleep and the majority of violent crimes. This outline tells us that the essay will contain information about both of these topics. While the last option may also be a good solution to getting kids more sleep, it is not mentioned in the thesis statement and therefore not a valid answer.
