To reduce any fraction to its simplest form, divide the top and bottom numbers by their greatest common factor.
The greatest common factor of 3 and 48 is 3.

Find the Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
of 48 and 3
GCF = 3
We can reduce the fraction by dividing
the numerator and denominator by 3
48 ÷ 33 ÷ 3=
161
Dividing 16 by 1 we get
=
16
