According to the ideal gas law, what happens to the volume of a gas when the number of moles doubles (all else held constant)?

As moles double, the volume also doubles.

Answer: volume will double when no of moles doubles

Explanation:- Avogadro's Law: This law states that volume is directly proportional to the number of moles of the gas at constant pressure and temperature.


V\propto n (At constant temperature and pressure)


(V_1)/(n_1)=(V_2)/(n_2)

where,


V_1 = initial volume of gas = v


V_2 = final volume of gas = ?


n_1 = initial number of moles = n


n_2 = final number of moles = 2n

Now put all the given values in the above equation, we get the final pressure of gas.


(v)/(n)=(V_2)/(2n)


V_2=2v

Therefore, the volume of the gas will also double.
