E is the answer. Add up all the squares and then the shaded portion to get 12/24 and then simplify to get 1/2. Once done, look for something that is equivalent to 1/2 which is 13/26.

The correct answer is e: 13/26 because that can be simplified to 1/2.
If you count how many squares there are in all, you'll find that there are 24 and 12 of the are shaded in. 12/24 is equal to 1/3.
