when rounding to the nearest tenth, we have to see the digit in the hundredths place, if the digit is equal to or greater than 5, then we add 0.1, if the digit is less than 5 then there's no change to the digit in the tenths place

tenths place is the first number to the right of the decimal point

hundredths place is the number to the right of the tenths place

in the given number 4.12

digit in the hundredths place is 2, its less than 5 so there's no change to the digit in the tenths place

so 4.12 rounded to the nearest tenth is - 4.1
