Unit fractions are rational number with 1 as the numerator and the denominator as a positive integer. For example, 1/2 or 1/8.

(1)/(2) + (1)/(3) = (9)/(12)

( (1)/(2)* (6)/(6) ) + ( (1)/(4)* (6)/(3) )

Answer:

(1)/(2) +(1)/(4) =(9)/(12)

Explanation:

The unit fractions have a one in the numerator, in this case we need two unit fractions that when we sum them we get 9/12.

I will use the fractions 1/2 and 1/4, because when we sum them we get:

(1)/(2) +(1)/(4) =(6)/(12) +(3)/(12) =(6+3)/(12) =(9)/(12)

the result is the
(9)/(12) that we are asked for.
