if 2 pizzas were cut into sixths then there were 12 sixths total, 12/6, that is 6 sixths for each pizza. If the 3 friends had 2 pieces each, then there remains:
12/6 - 2/6 - 2/6 - 2/6 = 6/6
there are left 6 sixths still.
