Cross multiply and divide. 17.67x100=1,767 divided by 23.59 = 74.90 then do 23.59x74.90 divided by 17.67 = 99.99 so 75 percent when rounded

Add the total bills:
23.59 + 40.65 + 30.50 + 15.68 = 110.42
Divide his tips by the total bills to get the rate of the tips
17.67 ÷ 110.42 = 0.16
0.16 x 100% = 16%
His tips were 16% of the bills.
To check:
23.59 x 16% = 3.7744
40.65 x 16% = 6.504
30.50 x 16% = 4.88
15.68 x 16% =
2.5088
total tips 17.6672 rounded off to
17.67
