The creation of ovum begins in the follicle. These follicles slowly develop until they rupture, releasing the mature ovum into the fallopian tubes. This process is occurring in the ovaries which is part of the female reproductive system. The muscular system causes peristalsis which enables the ovum to travel through the fallopian tube until it either becomes fertilized in the fallopian tubes or not, causing what we know as a period.
