In what ways did Winston Churchill prove to be an effective leader for Britain as the war began

Winston Churchill was a man of the masses. He was with them in their darkest hours - i.e. The Blitz - and continued to urge the British people to hold on and fight. His speeches and presence in the London area was essential in keeping morale in a generally "good" level. I think...
