The elevation affects the climate and vegetation in Latin America by giving more nutrients to the soil that is absorbed by the crops, trees and other plants. These nutrients are then used from vegetation in the ground. Because the elevation varies from different locations, subsistence farming is done specifically to middle and highland zones.
