Suppose you are given the coordinates of the vertices of a polygon. What steps could you take to solve a problem involving the polygon's area?

Well,

The first thing you should do is to graph the coordinates. Once you have graphed the coordinates, you should find the length of each side by using the distance formula given here:

D= √((x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2)

You would then proceed to use standard geometry to find the area of the polygon.

Answer:

  • you graph the co-ordinates given the vertices of all the co-ordinates on the x- axis and y- axis .
  • use the co-ordinates to find the length of each side.
  • you can count the boxes in the graph to give the length of each side
  • or look at the coordinates with the same x and y values and subtract to get the length.
  • find the area of the polygon based on the shape if its is a square or rectangle
