To solve this problem follow the steps below...
Step 1: To turn 8/2 from an improper fraction into a whole number simply divide 8 by 2
8/2=8
÷2=4
Step 2(is optional): Check your answer
Since you found the whole number by dividing to check your answer you do the opposite and multiply by 2 instead of dividing by 2
4x2=8
Answer: 4

4 is the whole number equivalent. When dealing with an improper fraction or one that is "top heavy" you take the denominater (the bottom number) unto the numerator.
Two(2)goes into 8, 4 times, making it whole!
