Two reasons why may cases of abuse and violence are not reported

1. because they are scared of tell someone and having the abuser kill or hurt them
2. because most of the people who get abused are so in love with that person or just don't see why they have to tell someone

because normally the abuser will say if they tell any 1 they will hurt the victim more and sometimes the victim might have done something bad that they could get in trouble for:)
