Well, what it means is that they are the basic unit of living organism Anything that is living are made up of cells. It means that animals (and humans) and plants are living thing that are made of cells.

"Cells are the building blocks of life" means that
all living things are made of at least one cell
. Without cells, there is no life. On top of that,
cells are the most basic unit of structure and function in living things.
