there are 12 inches in one foot and the closest number to 38 is 36. and 12*3=36. so there are 3 feet
now take that away from 38. 38-36=2 so you have 2 inches
your final answer is 3.2

3 feet and 2 inches because there are 12 inches in a foot you would have to divide 36 by 12 which would give you 3 feet and a left over of 2 inches
