Cone:

The base of a cone is a circle.

So the base area is given by:

Ab = pi*r²

In which r is the radius.

In this question: r = 7. So

Ab = pi*7² = 49pi

The area of the base is approximately 49pi square centimeters.

The volume is the base area, multiplied by the height and divided by 3.

The base area is 49pi.

The height is 28.

So the volume is:

49*pi*28/3 = 1436 cubic centimeters.

So V ~~(1/3)*49pi*28, or about 1437 cubic centimeters.

Pyramid:

Base area 154 square centimeters(close to the cone).

Same height as the cone

So same volume

The cone and pyramid have nearly the same volumes

154 square centimeters

154

1437

Greater
