I haven't done anything yet.
Here's what you could do with it:

-- Combine the -2m and the 4m on the left side. Together, they make 2m .

Now the equation is: 2m + 5 = -3

Subtract 5 from each side: 2m = -8

Divide each side by 2 : m = -4

-2m+4m+5=-3 \ \ \ |\hbox{substraction 2m from 4m} \\ 2m+5=-3 \ \ \ |\hbox{substraction 5 from both sides}\\ 2m+5-5=-3-5 \\ 2m=-8 \ \ \ |\hbox{division by 2} \\ m=-4
