In order to determine the angle of elevation, first write the given length of the tall of the boy and his shadow in inches.

Consider that 1 ft = 12 in, then:

for the tall of the boy

5ft = 5(12 in) = 60 in

then, the tall of the boy is:

5 ft 6 in = 60 in + 6 in = 66 in

for the shadow:

8ft = 8(12 in) = 96 in

then, the length of the shadow is:

8 ft 3 in = 96 in + 3 in = 99 in
