add all of them together and add the 2 nickels plus 3 . When we add all of together we get 8 and 3 plus 2 equals 5 so the fraction is 5/8

Hi there!
If we add the total amount of coins we have together, we get 8 coins in total. Since 5 of those were pennies or nickels we know that
5/8 of the coins
were either nickels or pennies.
