5 2/5 - 4 3/4
= 27/5 − 19/4

= ((27 × 4) − (19 × 5)) / (5 × 4)

= (108 - 95) / 20

= 13/20

= 13/20

Answer:

The tree grew 0.65 feet.

Explanation:

We have,

Height of tree when planted =
4(3)/(4) =
(19)/(4)

Height of tree one year later =
5(2)/(5) =
(27)/(5)

So, we get that the difference in the height of the tree in a year is,

Difference =
(27)/(5)-(19)/(4)

i.e. Difference =
(27* 4-19* 5)/(20)

i.e. Difference =
(108-95)/(20)

i.e. Difference =
(13)/(20) = 0.65 feet

Hence, the tree grew 0.65 feet.
