Know that you can multiply these numbers in any order or grouping thanks to the associative property. So break it down like this
7*(6*y)
7*6*y
--you can switch the order and it will still get you the same answer.--
6*7*y
(6*7)*y
42y

we open the brackets by multiplying the term outside by the term inside.
therefore 7Ă—6y=42y
