Books and movies are never the same. There are always many differences between the two of them. Some differences have more significance than others and The Princess Bride is no exception. In the next few paragraphs, I will explore a few of the differences between The Princess Bride's book and the movie.
The first difference we will discuss occurs close to the beginning. In the movie, there is some romance between Buttercup and Wesley. When they decide to get married Wesley needs to go to America to get work so that he can have enough money to marry Buttercup. In the book, Buttercup looks down on Wesley as just a servant and doesn't treat him very well. After the countess visits and shows attraction to Wesley Buttercup realizes that she likes Wesley also. Buttercup becomes jealous and that night she tells Wesley of her love. This scares Wesley and he leaves.
This difference does not have a large impact on the plot as both paths lead to the same result. When Buttercup gets the false news of Wesley's death she plans to marry Prince Humperkingk; then she gets kidnapped. Meanwhile, Wesley is coming back for Buttercup when he hears of her marriage.
Another difference that does not change the plot is the book's use of a flashback for both Inigo and Fezzik. The flashback shows the readers some of Inigo and Fezzik's past. Adding backstories can help the readers understand the characters better. In the movie, the only information the viewer gets on Inigo and Fezzik's past is through conversations that happen throughout the movie. This difference does not cause anything different to happen in the book because the flashback just gives some more information.
The last difference I will discuss is just a small dialogue difference. In the book, Miracle Max says the only thing better than true love is cough drops but in the movie, he says the only thing better than true love is a mutton sandwich with a thick slice of cheese. Whenever a book is made into a movie or a movie is written into a book most of the lines are not going to be the same but most don't change anything the characters do. This is a good example of that. The difference in what Miracle Max says does not change anything the characters do following this interaction.
I have now discussed some of the ways books can differ from movies.
I changed all the grammatical errors in order for you to get a good grade. But other than that I thought it was great and I like how you ended it.
