13 divide by 4= 3r1
each girl gets 3 marbles and 1 will be left over

Each of the 4 girls will get
3 marbles with 1 left over.
If 4 girls get 3 marbles each, that is 4 times 3. This is 12. Now since there are 13 marbles, we know that there is 2 left over because 13-12 is 1.
