Roscoe has a circular carpet in his office. She wants to put a circular table in middle of the carpet. The diameter of the carpet is 24 meters and the diameter of the table is 8 meters. Calculate how much area of carpet is left after putting the table in place?

so find the areas and subtract
area=pi times radius^2
radius=1/2diameter

carpet d=24
carpet r=24/2=12
carpet area=pi times 12^2=144pi

table d=8
carpet r=8/2=4
carpet area=pi times 4^2=16pi

so we subtract
144pi-16pi=128pi
answer is 128pi m^2
if aprox pi to 3.14 then
128 times 3.14=401.92 m^2

Area of the table :

\pi
4^(2) =
50.3
Area of the Carpet :

\pi
12^(2) =
452.39
Remaining Area :
452.39 - 50.3 =
402
m^(2)
