Write a fraction as a decimal Some fractions are easy to convert to decimals. Fractions with 10,100 or power of 10 are written like they sound. 1/10 is .1, 3/10 is .3, 5/100 is .05, 17/100 is .17. Some you can rename to have a power of 10 denominator. They are 2,4,5,10,20,25,50. They are friendly denominators. 2/5=4/10=.4, 11/25=44/100=.44. Then there are not friendly denominators. They require decimal division. Take the fraction and make it as a division problem. The denominator is the divisor. Write two decimal points, one in the question part and one in the answer part. Annex or add zeroes to the end. Do long division. There are three types of_ decimals: terminal which end in 0, repeating which keep going i.e. 1/3=.3 The bar over the top represents repeating. Then there is non terminal, non repeating i.e. pi,3.14159265
