there are 3 sets of balls numbered 1 through 8

therefore the total number of balls is 24 and appears 3 times

first, we can select one ball there are 23 balls are left.

if we can select two balls there are 22 balls are left.

so that, the probability of selecting 3 equal balls is:

\begin{gathered} P=(2)/(23)*(1)/(22) \\ P=(1)/(253) \end{gathered}

hence the probability P=1/253
