It would be the Korean conflict, NATO, the Marshall Plan, the Bay of Pigs, and Vietnam that were ways the United States countered Soviet threats to free nations, since this was the goal of "containment".

The correct answers are as followed

1) Korean conflict- The United States got involved in helping South Korea in their fight against North Korea. This is due to the fact that the Soviet Union was trying to help North Korea spread communism to South Korea.

2) The Bay of Pigs- This US military invasion of Cuba was done in hopes of overthrowing Fidel Castro, who was a huge ally for the Soviet Union. This plan by the federal government ultimately failed.

3) Marshall Plan- The Marshall Plan was an economic stimulus package created by George C Marshall (Secretary of State) which gave $14 billion to European countries after World War II who were in jeopardy of being taken over/influenced by the Soviet Union.

4) Vietnam- The US got involved in the Vietnam War in order to help South Vietnam from becoming a communist country like North Vietnam.

5) NATO and SEATO- This political and military alliances were aimed at mutual help in terms of stopping the spread of communism on a global scale.
