Alan mixes 1 1/3 cups of milk with a can of condensed soup. He makes a total of 2 5/8 cups of soup. How many cups of condensed soup were in the can?

To find the amount of soup in the soup-milk mixture, we just need to subtract the amount of milk from the amount of soup-milk mixture.

2 5/8 - 1 1/3 = 1 7/24.

There were 1 7/24 cups of soup in the can.
