1. The role which nationalism played in the outbreak of World War I was: A. Nationalism convinced the people of Europe that their own nation could take on any military threat. The best example of this fact is Germany. They built a large army which was motivated by the confidence that their nation could rule the world. 2. If my memory serves me well, the name given to the flowering of African American culture, art, writing, and music in the 1920s was D. The Harlem Renaissance. It was one of the most importand events in the United States during 20th century caused by the African-American Great migration. Black people's culture expanded all over the US and created a lot of trends which are actual even today. 3. In my opinion all of the statements are wrong except this one: B. National forests should be protected to make the best use of the nation's natural resources. which best describes "rational use" of national forests. It would be good to set a limit on lumbering and protect environment. 4. As far as I remember, the purpose of poll taxes in southern states was to B. discourage African Americans from voting. Payment of a poll tax was needed to restrict voting rights for poor whites and colored people. And they achieved that there were less African-American and Native American voters. 5. I'm definitely sure that the name given to journalists who focused on the poverty and corruption in the cities was D. Muckrakers. This name appeared in 1900's. These journalists worked in popular magazines and they shown people real problems of society. They are also known as "investigate reporters. 6. In my view, the name given to the belief that life is made up of competitive struggles and only the fittest survive was B. Social Darwinism. This is revolutional term which revealed biological concepts of natural selection inspired by Charles Darwin. 7. If I remember it correctly, the innovation which allowed Henry Ford to make cars available to Americans for a lower cost was B. The use of assembly lines. This innovation allowed Henry Ford to reduce the manufacturing time from 12 hours to 2 hours. 8. I am completely sure that this option "D. People had a desire for access to raw materials and natural resources." was a cause of imperialism. It was the most important thing which would make their country strong enough. 9. As far as I remember, progressive reformers worried about the government because: A. They perceived the government as corrupt. They believed in that because they noticed that the gap between rich people and working class was increasing. 10. If my memory serves me well, the name given to Theodore Roosevelt's plan to keep the wealthy from taking advantage of small businesses and the poor was "The Square Deal". This plan consists of 3 ideas: 1. Control of corporation. 2. Consumer protection. 3. Conservation of natural resources.
