The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite. It is much smaller and less massive than Earth, with a radius of 1.74x10^6 m and a mass of 7.35x10^22 kg.What is the acceleration due to gravity on the surfate of the Moon?

Apply the formula:

g = GM / r^2

Where:

g = acceleration due to gravity (m/s^2)

G= universal gravitational constant = 6.673 x10^-11 Nm^2kg^2

m= mass = 7.35x10^22 kg

r = radius = 1.74x10^6

Replacing with the values given:

g = 6.673 x10^-11 Nm^2kg^2 * 7.35x10^22 kg / (1.74x10^6)^2

g= 1.620 m/s^2
