Solution :

Let number of pieces in whole loaf be x

Since we are given that 1/3 of loaf is left


(1)/(3) x is left

We are also given that there were 6 pieces left.


(1)/(3) x=6


x=6*3


x=18

Thus the number of pieces in each loaf is 18
