In the Korean War, even if it ended in a draw, it prevented the spread of communism to the South. The Bay of Pigs was an effort to overthrow Castro and restore democracy but failed. The establishment of NATO and SEATO were to deter communist expansion to Western Europe and Southeast Asia. Marshall Plan helped countries recover from WWII to prevent the influence of communism. Vietnam unfortunately was failed attempt to defeat communism as the North conquered the South. Actually it was Sino Soviet Part where China broke relations with the Russians and later Nixon opened relations with China.
