A cell follows a specific pattern of change as it divides because cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKS), a family of protein kinases, plays a role in regulating the cell cycle. Cdks signal the cell that it is ready to pass into the next stage of the cell cycle. A cell follows a differential pattern if its transforming eukaryotic stem cells into gametes, or the somatic cell division in the cells of the body.
