Dr. Pratt is likely using the cognitive therapy. It is because this type of therapeutic approach involves of having to treat individuals with mental health disorder and in a way that it helps the patient to be understood in means of having to understand their thoughts and feelings that are the one contributing to their behaviors.

Dr.Pratt is using a form of psychotherapy called Cognitive Therapy (CT). CT is a therapeutic approach belonging to the wider group of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT). CT is based on the idea that the majority of our feelings are determined by our way of thinking. Depression is believed by many to be caused by faulty thoughts and beliefs. Therefore, the cognitive therapist tries to reset these beliefs and change how the patient interprets some events. These changes will also affect the emotional state of the patient.
