Bernice has a terrible phobia of heights. it has become more problematic since the announcement of her promotion. with the promotion comes more money, more perks, and more prestige. unfortunately, it also requires bernice to work on the thirty-fifth floor of the building. she knows that she must overcome this fear if she wants to accept the promotion. with which therapeutic technique will she most likely find success?

C. Bernice will most likely find success in the SYSTEMATIC DESENSITIZATION. It is a therapeutic technique developed by Wolpe during 1950s based on the principle of classical conditioning. This therapy aims to remove the fear response of a phobia, and substitute a relaxation response to the conditional stimulus gradually using counter conditioning. There are three phases to the treatment:

1.The patient is taught a deep muscle relaxation technique and breathing exercises. E.g. control over breathing, muscle detensioning or meditation.

2.The patient creates a fear hierarchy starting at stimuli that create the least anxiety (fear) and building up in stages to the most fear provoking images.

3. The patient works their way up the fear hierarchy, starting at the least unpleasant stimuli and practicing their relaxation technique as they go.

I believe the answer is systematic desensitization.
systematic desensitization is being done by gradually increasing the exposure of the patient toward the cause of the phobia,
By forcing the patient to confront the source of their fear, the therapy aimed to make the patient realize the irrationally within the fear that they currently experience.
